Our graduates obtain employment with top local and national transportation carriers.
The academy's training includes several key phases designed to meet federal and state requirements:
Permit Preparation: Comprehensive online CDL training helps students master the knowledge required for the CDL permit test.
Inspections and Technical Skills: In-person instruction covers detailed pre-trip inspections, which are critical for both safety and passing the CDL skills test.
Skill Maneuvers: Hands-on practice focuses on essential maneuvers, including forward stop, straight-line backing, forward offset tracking, and reverse offset backing.
Road Training: After mastering maneuvers on the range, students move behind the wheel for road training in real traffic conditions.
To obtain a CDL in Colorado through a third-party testing unit, applicants must meet specific state and federal standards:
Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old for intrastate driving (within Colorado) and 21 years old for interstate driving or transporting hazardous materials.
Medical Certification: A valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), obtained by passing a DOT physical exam, is required.
Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP): To apply for a CLP, individuals must pass a written general knowledge test, hold a valid Colorado driver's license, and provide proof of identity, residency, and Social Security number.
Training and Testing: Applicants must complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from an FMCSA-approved provider. After holding a CLP for at least 14 days, they can take the CDL skills test, which includes a pre-trip inspection, basic control skills, and an on-road driving test.
